Adventureland: People be Dying at Adventureland!!!! On the daily!... ok just two days.

Adventureland Amusement Park on Long Island was the site of a ride-related fatality on Thursday, the second such incident in as many days, according to a report on a radio station Web site. According to 1010 WINS, an unidentified middle-aged woman was thrown from the
Farmingdale, N.Y., park's Top Scan ride. She smashed through the windshield of a car parked nearby, according to the station. A park employee was killed on Wednesday when he was struck by an empty kiddie coaster car (AB, Sept. 1). Both incidents are under investigation. Thursday's incident was the latest in a string that have brought the wrong kind of attention to New York amusement facilities. A worker was killed setting up rides for E. James Strates Shows at the New York State Fair in Syracuse last week. And in August, a boy was killed after falling from a ride at Rye Playland. The fatalities at Adventureland were the first on record at the park, a state Department of Labor spokesman told WINS.

"I do not know if you remember the tale of the girl who saves the ship under mutiny by sitting on the powder barrel with her lighted torch and all the time knowing that it is empty? This has seemed to me a charming image of the women of my time. There they were, keeping the world in order by sitting on the mystery of life, and knowing themselves that there was no mystery."
